Can this sha\u00adring of a life in home\u00adless\u00adness, this inter\u00adplay of the refu\u00adsal of what has been refu\u00adsed and consent, this under\u00adcom\u00admon appo\u00adsi\u00adtio\u00adna\u00adli\u00adty, be a place from which to know, a place out of which emerges nei\u00adther self-conscious\u00adness nor know\u00adledge of the other but an impro\u00advi\u00adsa\u00adtion that pro\u00adceeds from somew\u00adhere on the other side of an unas\u00adked ques\u00adtion&nbsp;? But not sim\u00adply to be among one\u2019s own&nbsp;; rather, also, to live among one\u2019s own in dis\u00adpos\u00adses\u00adsion, to live among the ones who can\u00adnot own, the ones who have nothing and who, in having nothing, have eve\u00adry\u00adthing. To live, in other words, within the gene\u00adral com\u00admon\u00adness and open\u00adness of a life in Deleuze\u2019s sense (hence the neces\u00adsi\u00adty of a phi\u00adlo\u00adso\u00adphy of life&nbsp;; hence the neces\u00adsi\u00adty but also the rigor of a dis\u00adbe\u00adlief in social death, where social death is pre\u00adci\u00adse\u00adly unders\u00adtood as the impo\u00adsi\u00adtion of the subject\u2019s neces\u00adsi\u00adty rather than the refu\u00adsal of the subject\u2019s pos\u00adsi\u00adbi\u00adli\u00adty, which, in any case, the impo\u00adsi\u00adtion founds and enforces. And so we arrive, again and again, at a pro\u00adfound impulse in Fanon that\u2014as Chandler indi\u00adcates in his rea\u00adding, which is the ini\u00adtial rea\u00adding, of Du Bois\u2014constitutes Du Bois\u2019s hori\u00adzon and which appears in the various forms of that ques\u00adtion whose neces\u00adsi\u00adty is so fun\u00adda\u00admen\u00adtal that it must be unasked\u2014the ques\u00adtion of the mea\u00adning of (black) being, the ques\u00adtion of the mea\u00adning of (black) things.
