Noncooperation is a duty that must be car\u00adried out by the ones who exist in the near\u00adness and dis\u00adtance bet\u00adween poli\u00adti\u00adcal conscious\u00adness and abso\u00adlute patho\u00adlo\u00adgy. But this duty, impo\u00adsed by an erstw\u00adhile sub\u00adject who clear\u00adly is sup\u00adpo\u00adsed to know, over\u00adlooks (or, per\u00adhaps more pre\u00adci\u00adse\u00adly, looks away from) that vast range of non\u00adreac\u00adtive dis\u00adrup\u00adtions of rule that are, in ear\u00adly and late Fanon, both indexed and dis\u00adqua\u00adli\u00adfied. Such dis\u00adrup\u00adtions, often mani\u00adfest as minor inter\u00adnal conflicts (within the clo\u00adsed circle, say, of Algerian cri\u00admi\u00adna\u00adli\u00adty, in which the colo\u00adni\u00adzed \u201ctend to use each other as a screen\u201d) or mus\u00adcu\u00adlar contrac\u00adtions, howe\u00adver much they are cap\u00adtu\u00adred, enve\u00adlo\u00adped, imi\u00adta\u00adted, or tra\u00added, remain inas\u00adsi\u00admi\u00adlable (231). These dis\u00adrup\u00adtions trouble the reha\u00adbi\u00adli\u00adta\u00adtion of the human even as they are evi\u00addence of the capa\u00adci\u00adty to enact such reha\u00adbi\u00adli\u00adta\u00adtion. Moreover, it is at this point, in pas\u00adsages that culmi\u00adnate with the appo\u00adsi\u00adtion of what Fanon refers to as \u201cthe rea\u00adli\u00adty of the \u2018towel\u00adhead\u2019 \u201d with \u201cthe rea\u00adli\u00adty of the \u2018nig\u00adger,\u2019 \u201d that the fact, the case, and the lived expe\u00adrience of blackness\u2014which might be unders\u00adtood here as the trou\u00adbling of and the capa\u00adci\u00adty for the reha\u00adbi\u00adli\u00adta\u00adtion of the human\u2014converge as a duty to appose the oppres\u00adsor, to refrain from a cer\u00adtain per\u00adfor\u00admance of the labor of the nega\u00adtive, to avoid his eco\u00adno\u00admy of objec\u00adti\u00adfi cation and stan\u00adding against, to run away from the snares of recog\u00adni\u00adtion (220). This refu\u00adsal is a black thing, is that which Fanon car\u00adries with(in) him\u00adself, and in how he car\u00adries him\u00adself, from Martinique to France to Algeria.
